Äänekosken Energia’s own energy production consists mainly of zero-emission bio energy and hydroelectric power. Two thirds of all electricity we sell is produced by Äänekosken Energia’s associated companies.
The foundation of our energy production are emission-free hydroelectric power and efficient combined heat and power production (CHP). CHP combines the production of electricity and heat production process, and allows use to utilize around 85% of the energy from the fuels. As a result of recent years’ heavy investments, the share of renewable energy is around 70% of all the electricity sold by Äänekosken Energia.
Our energy is sourced mainly through our associated companies:
- Koskienergia – hydropower
- Äänevoima – wood power
- Kumpuniemen Voima – wood power
- EPV Energia – hydroelectric and wind power
Around 45% of the energy produced by Koskienergia is directed to Äänekosken Energia. On a normal year this amounts to around 70 GWh, which corresponds roughly to the amount of energy consumed by 35.000 2-person apartments.
Our goal is to further increase the use of zero-emission energy sources and replace fossil fuels with renewable energy.
